Reasoning Model

Level 2

Short Description

A model designed to spend additional compute "thinking" through a problem before answering, often improving accuracy on complex tasks.

Friendly Description: A reasoning model is an AI that's been trained to slow down and think before it speaks. Where a regular model jumps to an answer, a reasoning model works through the problem step by step, often reaching better conclusions on tricky tasks. It's the AI equivalent of saying, "Let me think about that for a minute," instead of blurting out the first answer.

Example: If you give a reasoning model a complicated logic puzzle or a multi-step math problem, it might quietly consider several possible approaches, check its work, and then deliver a careful answer. It typically takes a bit longer than a normal model, but the quality on hard problems is noticeably better.
